助教gg Jefferson
助教gg has an extensive utility background. As a former member of the BTO team for BC Hydro’s smart metering rollout, Tagg directed the design, production, and subsequent training of staff on a big data analytical tool. Tagg was responsible for engineering design and deployment with Simpa Networks, establishing pay-as-you-go solar electricity in India. He led the design team for a full design and manufacturing cycle of core meter design. Over his term with Simpa, the overall customer base tripled in size and the team size doubled.
助教gg is also a seasoned entrepreneur. He was a founding member and the CEO of Dragonfly Instruments and developed award-winning instrumentation for the water sector for real-time heavy metal monitoring. The recipient of numerous small business awards, Dragonfly was able to draw on significant talent and support from the University of British Columbia and was identified as one of the most promising startup companies to come out of the university. Tagg headed business initiatives and developed water quality instrumentation devices capable of in-field laboratory-calibre spectroscopy of dissolved contaminants in water with Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy.
助教gg’s most recent claim to fame was being honored at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Applied Science Celebration with the Dean’s Medal of Distinction. Awarded annually, the Medal recognizes individuals who have brought high honour to the faculty and/or who have made longstanding or significant contributions. Tagg was recognized more specifically for his contributions to the fundraising and design process of the UBC Engineering Student Centre, as well as his successes in leading the GridCure team over the past few years.
