Ryan Shea
Ryan Shea is an associate on the Cities Renewables Accelerator team working to support and scale American city efforts to procure and deploy clean and renewable energy and decarbonize electricity supplies. He first joined RMI as an intern with the Islands Energy Program in 2017 and officially joined RMI as an associate in January 2019.
Ryan has experience with economic analyses for renewable energy systems in island settings, as well as carbon neutral pathways for non-profits and universities. After graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton (UD) in 2016, Ryan received a Fulbright scholarship to research cost-effective pathways for Mauritius, a small island developing state, to achieve their short-term renewable energy goals. Building off this work and his internship with RMI’s Islands Energy Program, Ryan returned to UD where his graduate research focused on cost-effective carbon neutral pathways for universities, using UD as a case study in scale-able energy efficiency, on and off-site solar, and fuel switching to geothermal heat pumps.
