Leanne Tobias
Leanne Tobias is founder and managing principal ofMalachite LLC, an advisory firm that specializes in the development, leasing, management, financing and certification of sustainable or green real estate on a global basis.
A commercial real estate industry veteran, Leanne brings over 20 years of institutional real estate investment and management experience to the sustainable real estate field, including the oversight of pooled funds for pension investors.
In addition to her work with private real estate and investment clients, Leanne speaks internationally on sustainable real estate investment for leading organizations such as the United Nations, Harvard Business School, Investment and Pensions Europe, Princeton University, the U.S. Green Building Council and others.
Leanne also has been an advisor to the new Green Building Finance Consortium and to Building Design and Construction Magazine. Green real estate projects for which Leanne provided investment financing and management have been featured in a documentary on American television. Leanne has also written a book,"Retrofitting Office Buildings to be Green and Energy-Efficient,"for the Urban Land Institute.
Leanne was previously managing director of the Multi-Employer Property Trust, a multi-billion dollar commercial real estate equity fund; headed the real estate operations of the AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust; and directed programs for capital markets and institutional lenders at the Mortgage Bankers Association. She holds an MBA from Wharton Business School and an MPA degree from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. Leanne also has been designated as a LEED Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council.
