High Demand for LEED AP Exams Prompts Extension of Registration Deadline

The new deadline for registration to take the exams covering green building standards for New Construction and Commercial Interiors in order to become a LEED Accredited Professional is now 11:59 p.m. today, April 1.

The deadline extension was announced this morning by theU.S. Green Building CouncilandGreen Building Certification Institute, which now manages the accreditation program for the organization.

Unprecedented demand to take the test and ensuing technical slowdowns prompted the registration extension.

People intererested in registering for either exam should send an email to[email protected]with a subject line that reads "Exam Registration" by 11:59 PM PST today. Candidates may register only once.

It is not necessary for people who have already registered or contacted GBCI regarding registration for the new construction or commercial interiors exams to send an email, according to USGBC communications manager Ashley Katz.

In response to the message, people will receive information within seven days about how to obtain their exam ID for scheduling a session with Prometric testing service. Individuals should schedule their test before the June 30, 2009 testing deadline because seats are limited.

For more information on the accreditation process is available from theGreen Building Certification Instituteathttp://www.gbci.org/.

More than 75,000 people have become LEED APs since the program began eight years ago.
